Frequently Asked Questions
BE PREPARED FOR ANYTHING
At Kamloops Honda we take the routine care and maintenance of your vehicle very seriously. We understand that unexpected events happen in life and that it is wise to be prepared for anything, especially when it comes to the health and safety of our customers. We understand that our modern vehicles are equipped with knowledgeable technology that indicate to us when services are due, but older models do not have that luxury. Even the best performing vehicles need to be regularly serviced to ensure the longevity and safety of the vehicle.
If your Honda Maintenance Minder is indicating to you that it is time for service, or if you have been advised by a Honda Certified Technician that is time to have your vehicle serviced, please bring your vehicle to our dealership as soon as possible - and here's why:
FAQs:
Q: Why will there always be a Main-Code?
A: The Honda Maintenance Minder System has been created to maximize customer convenience. The main-codes are specific to each user and are triggered based on the vehicle's operating condition.
Q: How many miles/kilometers can I expect to go between oil changes?
A: The Maintenance Minder System varies in accordance to how the driver drives the vehicle. The system will adjust based on engine operating habits, driving habits and the climate where the vehicle is operated in. For those who put "easy" mileage on the vehicle (highway driving, constant driving habits) expect to change your oil every 8,000-10,000 Km's. For those who put "harder" mileage on the vehicle (city driving, constant starting and stopping, constant up-hill driving) expect to change your oil every 6,000-8,000 Km's.
Q: The Honda Maintenance Minder System is indicating the "B" Service. Is there a problem if I choose to only do the "A" Service?
A: Yes, the System was created to not only indicate when you need your oil changed but to recommend services for the entire health of the vehicle. When proper maintenance procedures are followed you will realize the following benefits: longer vehicle life, continued warranty coverage, better resale value.
Q: Should I be checking my oil level even though I have the Honda Maintenance Minder System?
A: Yes. The Maintenance Minder DOES NOT sense oil level. Please refer to your specific Honda owner's manual recommendations for Service Station Procedures.
Q: Other Oil Change Stations recommend having my oil changed every 3,000 - 5,000 Km's. Why shouldn't I go to them?
A: The 3,000 - 5,000 Km oil change is an old, conservative approach that was created back in 1968. Since then there have been many technological advances and developments in not only oil technology, but engine design as well. These great advancements allow you to increase maintenance intervals in your Honda without harming your vehicle. In addition, our Certified Honda Technicians have been trained to specialize in Honda maintenance which allows our Honda Team to know your vehicle much better than any other non-Honda service facility.
